Because we play music

Why do I need a licence?

Anyone who uses, reproduces, or performs music outside the private sphere needs a licence. This applies, for example, to concert organisers and businesses that play music in the background or in sports classes.

Behind every song is a store of intensive creative work which is protected by copyright. In issuing its licences, SUISA intermediates between music users and music creators, making sure the latter receive fair remuneration for their music.

Your contribution to a diverse music world.

For each 100 francs it collects, SUISA passes 87 on to music creators. The amount of the remuneration depends on the type of use.

As SUISA’s customer you are also part of the music industry and contribute to fair remuneration for musicians.
